Korean Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (KMVSS) will be available in IRIS this September

We are pleased to announce that the Korean Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (KMVSS) will soon be accessible in IRIS. The IDIADA's Regulatory Information System!

South Korea represents one of the most demanding and strategic regulatory environments in the global automotive industry.

The country operates under a strict Self-Certification System, where manufacturers are responsible for testing and verifying vehicle compliance, while authorities conduct rigorous Post-Market Surveillance activities

KEY NEWS  2/4 — EU

R(EU) 2026/1188 - Amending Annex II of the R(EU) 2018/858 regarding environmental performance, automated valet parking and electric safety 

It has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union the R(EU) 2026/1188 an amending Regulation to the Annex II of the R(EU) 2018/858 as regards the following topics:

  • Environmental performance and emission requirements for vehicles produces in unlimited series and for special purpose vehicles (Euro 7).
  • The automated valet parking for vehicles produced in unlimited series.
  • The electric safety.
  • Advanced driver distraction warning requirements for vehicles produced in small series and special purpose vehicles.

The tables of the Annex II have been amended to include all the European and UNECE Regulations that establish the requirements and test procedures for the topics already commented.

The Regulation enterd into force on 22 June 2026.

This initiative has been followed by our team since the early beginning and available for our customers thorough Working groups observartory. Now, it is available on IRIS Knowledge base as an amendment of R(EU) 2018/858

KEY NEWS  3/4 — IN

New amendments published for the Central Motor Vehicle Rule

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways published G.S.R. 417(E) amending to the Central Motor Vehicles Rules. The amendments include 2 provisions:

Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine Vehicles (Rule 125M)

  • Categories M and N: Following standard AIS 195:2023.
  • Construction equipment: Following standard AIS 195A:2024.
  • Fuel: Specification IS 16061:2021.

Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles (Rule 125MA)

  • Categories M and N: Following standard AIS 157:2020.
  • Construction equipment: Following standard AIS 157A:2024.
  • Category L (2-3 wheelers): Following standard AIS 206:2024.
  • Fuel: Specification ISO 14687.

Establishes the complete regulatory framework for technical and safety type approval of hydrogen vehicles in India, covering all vehicle categories and hydrogen propulsion technologies.

KEY NEWS  4/4 — GCC

Draft of technical regulation for E-Call Technical Requirements

The Ministry of Industry & Advanced Technology (MOIAT) has published a draft standard setting out the technical requirements fer Emergency calls "E-call" on all passenger vehicles not more than eight seats in addition to the driver's (regardless of the vehicle's weight) and for light-duty vehicles with a weight not exceeding 3500 kg which are imported or manufactured for registration and licensing in the GCC countries.

This standard exempted vehicle produced in small series.
