IRIS participate at the JSAE Annual Congress 2026

The IRIS showcase at the JSAE Annual Congress 2026 proved to be highly successful!
From 27 to 29 of May in Yokohama, our delegation was able to present our most recent developments and engage with sector experts who share our commitment to automotive innovation.
The demonstrations in our exhibition space led to very productive participation and great attention, and we are delighted with the level of engagement we experienced.
Our Knowledge Management Specialist, María José Asensi Calatrava, presented a paper titled "IRIS - IDIADA's Regulatory Information System - Managing Regulatory Complexity of Global Automotive Legislation." She illustrated how IRIS, a comprehensive digital platform developed by Applus+ IDIADA's Homologation department, delivers structured and up-to-date regulatory technical knowledge, providing permanent access to over 4,000 worldwide automotive regulations through an intelligent, user-friendly interface designed to support our clients in their daily operations.
Throughout her presentation, María José Asensi Calatrava demonstrated how IRIS is supporting OEMs, component manufacturers, and engineering professionals in addressing one of the sector's most significant obstacles: the increasing intricacy of international automotive regulatory frameworks.
The platform, now formally accessible in Japanese and Chinese as well, empowers the sector to consolidate, track, and oversee worldwide regulatory data in a more intelligent, streamlined, and strategic manner.
Should you wish to learn more or explore how IRIS can be tailored to your company's requirements, we would be happy to provide you with a customized demonstration at iris@idiada.com

New UNECE Regulation on Conversion of Vehicles to Electric and Hydrogen

The UNECE informal working group on EV/HFCV retrofit systems is developing a new regulation that will establish the regulatory framework for the conversion of internal combustion engine vehicles to zero-emission vehicles.
The proposal for this new regulation establishes a harmonised method for the approval of vehicles equipped with electric traction chain retrofit systems. Its purpose is to provide uniform provisions to assist national vehicle approval and registration authorities in the conversion of internal combustion vehicles.
Systems covered:
For pure electric vehicles (EVs):
- Electric Traction Chain
- Rechargeable Energy Storage System (REESS)
- Battery Management System
- Vehicle charging socket
For hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (HFCVs):
- Fuel Cell
- Electric Traction Chain
- Compressed Hydrogen Storage System (CHSS)
- REESS Battery
- Battery Management System
- Vehicle charging socket
The regulation applies to vehicles of categories M and N.
You can follow the progress of this Regulation proposal through IRIS Working Groups Observatory (WGO), the IRIS application designed to provide a comprehensive and structured view of all regulatory proposals being discussed in international working groups.

GB on safety requirements for intelligent connected vehicle integrated Driving Assistance Systems

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology published a draft of the GB on safety requirements for combined driving assistance systems of intelligent and connected vehicles. This standard is designed to specify the requirements for:
- Basic single-lane combined driving assistance system.
- Basic multi-lane combined driving assistance system.
- Navigation combining driving assistance system of intelligent and connected vehicles.
At the same time the standard will set the test methods for vehicles for M and N categories equipped with these kinds of systems.
The period for submit comments ended on 22 April 2026.
- Can only be activated on Class A roads (structured highways/expressways) within the Operational Design Domain.
- Activation strictly prohibited on non-applicable roads (urban roads, unmarked rural roads).
- Strong driver monitoring system (DMS) requirements with 10-second warnings (visual + auditory + haptic) when driver doesn't take over.
- Must execute minimal risk maneuvers (MRM) when necessary.
Basic Multi-Lane Systems:
- Must be based on single-lane functionality.
- Limited to Class A roads only.
- Requires independent "lane centering + adaptive cruise control" capability.
- Strict lane change constraints - lane changes prohibited under three conditions:
- System is issuing disengagement warning (HOR/DCA).
- DMS is unavailable.
- Driver disengagement detected during lane change preparation.
- Hard linkage required between DMS status and lane change execution logic.
- Lane changes must be treated as "safety functions" rather than mere "convenience features".
