Drag & DTV Portable is a brake drag torque and disc thickness variation measurement set developed, engineered, and assembled by IDIADA. ​

This consists of 2 portable kits, the Drag Torque kit and the DTV kit that enhance quality and repeatability of the measurement process, saving time and effort in vehicle brake testing activities that are performed frequently.​

When both kits work together, the solution acquires and visualizes the data live, reporting the results on site to facilitate the engineering work.​

The Drag & DTV Portable measurement set measures and synchronizes the torque (Drag) in the wheel selected by the user and the Disc Thickness Variation (DTV) at the same time. It is a compact and portable set of vehicle brake testing equipment developed for use inside & outside the workshop and designed to allow measurements in a range of wheel heights.

How to perform a vehicle brake test with the Drag & DTV Portable?

Drag & DTV Portable is a vehicle brake test device designed to be flexible and to be used in different testing environments. A set of adaptors for capacitive sensors plus a custom-designed set of nuts as an adaptor to the wheel rim are supplied.

With a simple sequence of operations, disc thickness variations and brake drag torque are measured, making the vehicle brake testing more accurate and repeatable. 

How does the Drag & DTV Portable vehicle brake testing device work?

Once the vehicle is in the workshop for your brake performance or durability testing evaluations, a quick set up on the wheel is performed. Capacitive sensors are installed and brake drag torque sensor is connected to the wheel. 

A simple trigger on the tool can synchronize the measurement. The system generates an automatic report, which will provide the evolution of brake drag and DTV during the complete duration of your vehicle brake test programme.

What does the Drag & DTV Portable vehicle brake test equipment measure?

Nowadays, some testing metrics are extremely important not only for brake performance, but also for energy management, comfort, and perception of vehicle quality. 

That’s why, with just a few operations, a synchronized measurement of lateral run out, DTV and brake drag is performed using high-resolution sensors.
