Scenarios
Essential yet complete set of driving scenarios to evaluate the vehicle dynamics behavior in a very effective way.
All scenarios are natively implemented and can be run with just one click.
Vehicle Model
Matlab-based, 10 DOF model, validated against complex MBS models and test data.
More than 100 model parameters to efficiently define dimensions, mass, tyres, springs, antiroll bars, dampers, K&C and aerodynamics.
Metrics
The data related to each scenario are automatically post-processed in order to generate a total of 14 metrics, each related with one specific subjective item of handling and comfort.
Optimisation
Select any of the available model parameters and run a complete optimization to get a set of vehicle chassis configurations that fulfill your targets.

How to evaluate the dynamics performance of a vehicle with IDIADA’s Target Cascading Tool (TCT)?
IDIADA's Target Cascading Tool is a vehicle dynamics software application oriented to the vehicle development concept stage, which is of great help to vehicle dynamics engineers in the process of establishing the target vehicle’s dynamic performance.
This vehicle dynamics simulation software has a set of pre-set manoeuvres that deliver a series of metrics that indicate the degree of performance of the loaded vehicle model.
Once the simulation has been performed with the pre-set manoeuvres, engineers can obtain valuable results on whether the vehicle model meets the set target, or whether optimization is required.
How does IDIADA’s Target Cascading Tool (TCT) vehicle dynamics simulation software work?
The TCT vehicle dynamics software allows the introduction of all the vehicle target parameters obtained through benchmarking and target setting activities and to generate a simplified vehicle model. This model is based on Matlab and has 10 degrees of freedom defined with differential equations.
Once the vehicle model to be developed has been loaded into the tool, vehicle dynamics engineers can start the simulation and evaluate the vehicle model’s performance according to the pre-set manoeuvres.
The model parameters include the vehicle’s main dimensions, such as global mass and inertias; the main suspension characteristics such as wheel rate curve, antiroll bar properties and Kinematics & Compliance properties, tyre characteristics, and vehicle aerodynamics.
If overall vehicle target is not met, it will be necessary to vary the vehicle model parameters for optimization.
What vehicle performance metrics and goals does the Target Cascading Tool (TCT) evaluate?
IDIADA's vehicle dynamics software comprises a set of two handling manoeuvres and three comfort manoeuvres. All of them deliver a set of metrics that evaluate the steady state (SS) and transient lateral dynamics performance of the vehicle through steady-state constant velocity and step steer manoeuvres.
Regarding ride and comfort, the TCT tool evaluates them through a long bump event to consider the primary ride performance and, later, a deterministic event and a secondary road event for comfort at higher frequencies.
